How
To Grow Fall/Winter VegetablesWhile
most gardeners get excited when the weather starts getting warmer,
those who enjoy fall and winter vegetables can’t wait for cooler temps.
Fall and winter crops include broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower,
lettuces, and more. Homegrown veggies are tasty, nutritious, and inexpensive.
Plus, even kids love vegetables that they helped grow. Here are a few quick tips, but be sure to speak with a Certified Nursery Professional at your local Navlet’s for more information and help in selecting the best varieties for your garden.

Prep the Soil
When you are planting in the ground versus a container, it is critically important to provide your veggies with a happy home. Amend your planting area with generous amounts of NSCP (Navlet’s Soil Conditioner Plus).

Pick ‘Em
Select varieties appropriate for your growing conditions. A Navlet’s expert can help. If this is your first vegetable garden, go with a limited number of easy-to-grow varieties. Starting with healthy, high quality plants is a must.

Plant ‘Em
We can help you determine the optimal time for planting. Be careful not to plant too deep. You may also want to stagger plantings so your harvests are continuous.

Protect ‘Em
As much as you may love fresh vegetables, snails, slugs, earwigs and cutworms like ‘em more. Be vigilant from the start in protecting your garden from pests; they can wipe out an entire crop of tender young plants in the first few nights. Navlet’s offers less toxic controls.
