Brilliant Blooms
Nothing is more dazzling than the vivid show of colors that Azaleas, Rhododendrons, and Camellias provide. The spring flowering varieties are now in stock and ready for planting. Azaleas, Rhododendrons, and Camellias are shallow-rooted plants, so digging a wide hole is recommended. Give roots more room by aiming for a trapezoid shaped hole, rather than the traditional cylinder shape. To improve water drainage, you’ll need to generously amend the soil with Gardner & Bloome Acid Planting Mix, particularly if there’s a high clay content. Last but not least, leave about an inch of the original root ball above the soil surface, to allow for settling over time. Before you know it, your garden will be blooming beautifully.

Summer Bulbs, Summer Color
It’s not too early to add perennial summer color to your garden! Summer flowering bulbs have arrived, and Navlet’s has all your summer favorites, including Gladiolas, Dahlias, Tuberous Begonias, Cannas, Tuberoses, and more. If the rainy season has left the ground too wet to plant, don’t worry. The actual planting can be postponed, and the bulbs will keep nicely in a cool, dry storage location. Once planted, they’ll provide the perfect color pallet for a cheerful garden, especially when mixed with Lobelia, Zinnias, Impatiens, Marigolds, and other seasonal color.

Plums + Apricots = Yummy Fruit Hybrids
Pluots and Apriums are unique apricot/plum crosses that make wonderful additions to your home orchard. These hybridized fruit trees are three parts one variety, and one part the other. Apriums, which resemble apricots from the outside, are noted for their subtle mix of apricot and plum aromas. Pluots are slightly sweeter, with the general shape of a plum and a speckled exterior. Both ripen during the early summer and are best eaten right off the tree. They’re also delicious chopped in salads or baked into tarts.
