Learn tips and tricks from the experts! Navlet’s Garden Centers is pleased to present its 2015 Class Schedule. Our gardening classes are free, and each covers a timely topic in the garden. So learn from the pros, meet new friends, and have some fun. Click on the link below for a complete list of classes and locations.

Classes are held at one of Navlet’s four East Bay garden centers, located in Concord, Danville, Martinez, and Pleasant Hill. Class size is limited, however, so it’s best to call ahead and reserve your space.

Next Class: Pruning Fruit TreesNext Class: Just Tomatoes • Sat. Apr. 4 at 10AM & 2PMJoin Buzz Bertolero, The Dirt Gardener, for this valuable class on growing tomatoes. He’ll share the basics, plus a few tips on harvesting a bumper crop of ripe, luscious tomatoes in your very own garden. He’ll also talk about the many varieties of tomatoes now available, and how to grow tomatoes in small areas like patios and balconies. Classes are free, but arrive early for the best seating.

Next Class: Organics 101Next Class: Organics 101 • Sat. Apr. 4 at 10AMLearn how to achieve an organic garden by using natural products. We will discuss fertilizers and pests, fungus and weed controls. Find out how to organically make your soil gold, from composting to soil-building to growing healthy plants. You’ll learn about the different types of composting, which yard and kitchen wastes should go into a compost pile, the pros and cons of bins versus pits, how to compost your soil, and the use of cover crops.
